“Kitchen Knife Incident at Stoke-on-Trent Primary School”

Police were contacted after a student was found with a kitchen knife at a primary school in Stoke-on-Trent. Sandon Primary School, located in Meir, issued a statement to parents regarding the incident that occurred the previous day. The school is closed until May 11 due to the upcoming May Bank Holiday and scheduled inset days.

In the released letter to parents, the school informed them that a student had brought a kitchen knife in a bag onto the school premises. The knife was secured by staff without the need for a lockdown, and CCTV footage confirmed there was no threat to the safety of students. Authorities, including the police, were immediately notified and are managing the situation.

The school acknowledged the alarm caused by the incident and apologized for the limited communication due to ongoing involvement of external authorities. While maintaining the confidentiality of the student involved, the school assured the community of taking the incident seriously to safeguard the students’ ongoing safety.
