A tragic incident occurred in a serene village as a 19-year-old man lost his life when a car crashed into a tree. The authorities, including Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), responded to the scene on Station Road, Great Dalby, in the Melton district, following reports of a white Vauxhall Corsa veering off the road and colliding with a tree around 8:45 pm on Wednesday, May 20.
Regrettably, the young man who was a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-old driver sustained severe injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, two other passengers in the back of the car were also hospitalized, fortunately with injuries that were not life-threatening or life-altering.
Authorities have issued a plea for any witnesses to the accident to step forward and provide any relevant information. Detective Constable Emma Neeves from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) urged witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward, emphasizing the importance of their input in the ongoing investigation.
