“Body of Young Man Recovered from Cork’s River Lee”

Date:

The body of a young man was recovered from the River Lee in Cork’s city center in Ireland. The discovery was made yesterday morning during low tide. Reports suggest that the man entered the river in the early hours of Sunday.

The recovery operation, involving Gardai and Cork City Fire Brigade, took place near the Mary Elmes Bridge on Merchant’s Quay, across from the main bus station. The man, in his mid-20s, was retrieved from the water, and a preliminary examination was conducted after the body was lifted onto the quay. Authorities have notified his family, treating the incident as a tragic event.

A spokesperson from the Garda mentioned that the body was found in the river on Sunday morning, and the young man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken for a post-mortem examination at CUH to determine the cause of death.
