Armed officers, including a Swat team, responded to an incident near the location where England is scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign. The Arlington Police presence was notable along West Division Street in Texas, close to AT&T Stadium, where England is set to play against Croatia in two days.
An officer on-site described the situation as “serious,” noting that a suspect was seen brandishing a weapon. The police deployed snipers, an armored BearCat vehicle, and drones to the scene, with a significant number of officers mobilized in response.
A spokesperson from the Arlington Police Department confirmed that they were addressing a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman at a residential address. The female resident was reportedly barricaded inside the home with others, but no injuries were reported despite the presence of a weapon. The suspect is now in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities clarified that the incident did not appear to be related to the World Cup and posed no threat to the tournament or its venues.
