British Woman Dies on £27M Yacht in Majorca

Date:

A British woman has tragically passed away on a luxury yacht at a popular holiday destination, sparking a police investigation. Emergency services swiftly responded to the Majorcan port of Palma, where the £27 million yacht was docked, following reports of a woman’s body discovered on board on Sunday evening. Despite efforts from paramedics, the woman could not be revived and was declared deceased at the scene.

The deceased, a 29-year-old British national, has been identified by Spanish authorities, although her name has not been disclosed. Civil Guard investigators are set to conduct an autopsy to determine the circumstances leading to her death.

A spokesperson from the Civil Guard in Majorca confirmed that the deceased woman was of British nationality. A source close to the investigation indicated that initial findings suggest her death may have been due to natural causes, with no criminal suspicion at this stage pending the autopsy results.

Colleagues of the woman have been questioned by the police as part of standard procedures. While no signs of violence were evident near the woman’s body, authorities have yet to ascertain the exact cause of death, awaiting the post-mortem examination.

The deceased woman was a crew member responsible for maintenance duties aboard the vessel named Lind, a custom-built motor yacht reported to command a charter fee of nearly £300,000 per week during peak seasons. The 170-foot yacht, flying the Cayman Islands flag, was constructed in the Netherlands and boasts a top speed surpassing 15 knots, accommodating up to ten guests and 13 crew members. Noteworthy features include an outdoor cinema, jacuzzi, gym facilities, and inflatable trampolines.

The current owner of the superyacht is purported to be German billionaire Peter Alexander Wacker, holding a stake in the chemical company Wacker Chemie AG. Wacker, who previously served at BMW before joining Wacker Chemie in the early 1990s, has a reported net worth of $1 billion as of Forbes’ April 2024 estimation.

Concerns were raised by the woman’s colleagues after she failed to respond to messages or calls, prompting the discovery of her tragic fate on the yacht.
