Bodycam footage has captured the moment Robert Bush, a man linked to a funeral home investigation, was taken into custody on a plane. The arrest occurred on March 10, 2024, shortly after the discovery of over 30 bodies at the Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull. Police bodycam footage released by Humberside Police shows Bush being approached by officers while sitting on an American Airlines flight at London Heathrow.
During the incident, as officers moved through the plane instructing passengers to remain seated, the lead officer singled out Bush, asking him to stand up and accompany them outside. Bush, visibly surprised, was permitted to retrieve his belongings before being escorted out of the airport.
Subsequently, Bush was informed of his arrest on charges including preventing a lawful burial, fraud by false representation, and abuse of position. These details emerged following Bush’s admission of guilt to all charges at Hull Crown Court. Bush, aged 48, previously based in Kirk Ella but recently residing in West Yorkshire, was the director of the funeral home. In court, he changed his plea on numerous charges related to burial misconduct and charity fund theft.
Originally denying the charges, Bush had previously confessed to several fraud-related offenses. Media presence outside the court premises indicated the significance of the case. A trial scheduled for October was canceled due to Bush’s change in plea. His next court appearance will be for sentencing, anticipated to occur in July.
