“Teenage College Student Makes £300K Selling Lego Figures”

Date:

A teenage college student in South London has reportedly made a significant amount of money by selling Lego figures on eBay. Jamie Bell, who is now 18 years old, started selling toys he had outgrown at the age of 13, eventually focusing on Lego pieces. His business, JTB Collectables, has generated around £300,000 in revenue over the past tax year, resulting in a profit of approximately £50,000 after expenses.

Recently, Jamie sold a 95kg collection of Lego Star Wars figurines on eBay, which he claimed to be the largest mini-figure lot ever listed on the platform. The auction started at £1 and attracted 65 bids, ultimately selling for an impressive £22,428. He mentioned that about 40% of his buyers are avid collectors with disposable income, while the remaining 60% are resellers who sell the items individually over time.

Despite his success in the Lego resale business, Jamie has no plans to turn it into a full-time job. Instead, he intends to pursue a degree in History at university. He credits his dad for assisting with packing and administrative tasks but emphasizes that the business is his own responsibility. Jamie’s strategy involves selling around 100kg of Lego per month through bulk sales and individual auctions.

Reflecting on his journey, Jamie recalls starting with a few hundred pounds from selling his own toys and gradually scaling up his operations. He plans to continue saving money for his future while balancing his entrepreneurial endeavors with his academic pursuits. His success story serves as an inspiration for young entrepreneurs looking to turn their hobbies into profitable ventures.
