Trump Considers Massive Iran Attack amid Rising Tensions

Date:

President Donald Trump is contemplating the resumption of significant military actions in Iran, as reported by the news site Axios. Trump indicated that he was mulling over a potential “massive attack,” emphasizing it would be larger than previous operations and that a decision was imminent. The President noted that Iran expressed a willingness to engage in negotiations but was not yet prepared to strike a deal, stating that they had not endured enough pressure.

These statements coincide with a notable increase in US military presence in the Middle East, with additional US Special Forces and fighter jet squadrons being deployed to the region. While no final decisions have been confirmed, military sources indicated that no new directives had been issued to US armed forces.

In a separate development, the Houthis, an armed group aligned with Iran, targeted two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea following their announcement of a blockade on the Bab al Mandeb Strait. These attacks have led to a surge in oil prices, with oil prices exceeding $100 a barrel for the first time since May.

The Bab al Mandeb strait, situated at the southern entrance to the Red Sea, serves as a critical chokepoint for oil tankers and cargo vessels transporting goods globally.
