US military commanders are escalating the strength of their potential attack forces in the Middle East amid heightened concerns of a possible conflict with Iran. The reinforcement includes a carrier strike force, six destroyers, squadrons of F15 fighter jets, and electronic jamming planes. Sources suggest the deployment of an additional aircraft carrier and communication planes to aid in war planning if peace negotiations in Oman fail.
A US Air Force E-11A aircraft recently departed from Chania International Airport in Crete, arriving at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia for potential involvement in an attack on Iran. Stealth bombers and F-15s were also stationed in Jordan earlier this week, while four UK Typhoon attack jets are now in Qatar to support the defense efforts of the US and Israel.
The USS Abraham Lincoln’s F-35C and Super Hornet fighters are expected to spearhead any potential assault, with a carrier-launched F-35C successfully intercepting an Iranian attack drone targeting the fleet. Notably, White House officials Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have arrived in Qatar for discussions with an Iranian delegation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Iran has reportedly indicated that some of the US demands, such as nuclear material restrictions and protester security, are non-negotiable, with the ballistic weapons program negotiations deemed off the table. Speculation suggests that Iranian officials are leaning towards an inevitable conflict. Additionally, there are concerns that the Israeli government may take preemptive action against Iran’s missile sites if the US military does not initiate an attack order.
President Trump has issued warnings of military action if Iran fails to reach agreements on its nuclear program and protester suppression. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned the US against provoking a “regional war” with any attack on Iran. The Iranian uprising has reportedly resulted in over 7,000 confirmed deaths, with fears of an additional 17,000 casualties and ongoing violence.
